{"id":98,"date":"2013-04-15T15:53:24","date_gmt":"2013-04-15T03:53:24","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/hifihq.com.au\/blog\/?p=98"},"modified":"2019-02-09T15:58:47","modified_gmt":"2019-02-09T02:58:47","slug":"abtec3-in-testing-hits-152-3db-in-a-toyota-vitz","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/hifihq.com.au\/blog\/abtec3-in-testing-hits-152-3db-in-a-toyota-vitz\/","title":{"rendered":"ABTEC3 in Testing Hits 152.3dB in a Toyota Vitz\u2026"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Back on the 12th of May 2012 not only did we manage a <strong>150.1dB<\/strong> with the <strong>4 entry level 10\u2033 Sony Xplod\u2019s<\/strong> in the <strong>Toyota Vitz<\/strong> but we also managed to get <strong>152.3dB<\/strong> with the same set-up apart from the <strong>4 entry level JBL 12\u2033 sub-woofers<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><a href=\"https:\/\/hifihq.com.au\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/IMG_0356.jpg\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"600\" height=\"358\" src=\"https:\/\/hifihq.com.au\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/IMG_0356.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-116\" srcset=\"https:\/\/hifihq.com.au\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/IMG_0356.jpg 600w, https:\/\/hifihq.com.au\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/IMG_0356-300x179.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/a><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>We have also managed a a <strong>150.5dB<\/strong> in the <strong>Mitsubishi Pajero<\/strong> with these same <strong>4 JBL 12\u2033s<\/strong> but with a more powerful amplifier which proves to myself that the <strong>Toyota Vitz<\/strong> is a much better base for a SPL car. If you look at it from a different angle the the <strong>Toyota Vitz<\/strong> has half the air space than any other vehicle in the <strong><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"http:\/\/www.abtec.co.nz\/\" target=\"_blank\">ABTEC<\/a><\/strong> fleet so if you think about that alone even before talking about any audio equipment it makes sense to use the smallest vehicle at your disposal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><a href=\"https:\/\/hifihq.com.au\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/IMG_0357.jpg\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"600\" height=\"365\" src=\"https:\/\/hifihq.com.au\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/IMG_0357.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-117\" srcset=\"https:\/\/hifihq.com.au\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/IMG_0357.jpg 600w, https:\/\/hifihq.com.au\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/IMG_0357-300x183.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/a><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>his blog isn\u2019t so much on how we got <strong>152.3dB<\/strong> in the Vitz, its more about the evolution of the set-ups that have been tested in it and where it will be going in the future.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The little <strong>Toyota Vitz<\/strong> started its life in <strong>TEAM ABTEC<\/strong> as a daily\/work car with a <strong>Digital Designs DD-LE308 8\u2033 Sub enclosure<\/strong> in it which isn\u2019t exactly made for SPL but they do produce amazing SQ (Sound Quality) and can out do a lot of larger sub-woofers if driven with the right amp! As soon as we decided that the <strong>Vitz<\/strong> was going to be an SPL car out came the little <strong>DD-LE308<\/strong> and off to the drawing board it went for box designs!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><a href=\"https:\/\/hifihq.com.au\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/IMG_0819.jpg\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"600\" height=\"400\" src=\"https:\/\/hifihq.com.au\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/IMG_0819.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-118\" srcset=\"https:\/\/hifihq.com.au\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/IMG_0819.jpg 600w, https:\/\/hifihq.com.au\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/IMG_0819-300x200.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/a><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>After testing 4 10\u2033 subs, 4 12\u2033 subs and 2 15\u2033 subs in\u00a0various box designs we have found a working formula for the car and will be testing it at the\u00a0<strong>ABTEC dB Drag Sound Off Sunday June 3rd 2012.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This set-up consists of :<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>1 x Pioneer AVH-P8450BT Head-unit<\/strong><\/li><li><strong>2 x DD Audio M4a Amplifiers<\/strong><\/li><li><strong>1 x DD Audio DD-Z18-1.5<\/strong><\/li><li><strong>4 x Century\u00a0Batteries<\/strong><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><a href=\"https:\/\/hifihq.com.au\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/IMG_0820.jpg\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"600\" height=\"400\" src=\"https:\/\/hifihq.com.au\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/IMG_0820.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-119\" srcset=\"https:\/\/hifihq.com.au\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/IMG_0820.jpg 600w, https:\/\/hifihq.com.au\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/IMG_0820-300x200.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/a><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>We all have big hopes for this set-up and how the amp\u2019s are mounted is very&nbsp;unusual but the cage has helped with this a lot\u2026 I am not however going to guess the numbers it will produce and leave that for the day.
