{"id":359,"date":"2015-02-20T15:30:40","date_gmt":"2015-02-20T02:30:40","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/hifihq.com.au\/blog\/?p=359"},"modified":"2019-02-13T15:38:45","modified_gmt":"2019-02-13T02:38:45","slug":"dd-audio-512-d4-x2-hit-a-staggering-151db","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/hifihq.com.au\/blog\/dd-audio-512-d4-x2-hit-a-staggering-151db\/","title":{"rendered":"DD Audio 512-D4 x2 Hit a Staggering 151dB!!"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>After doing the <strong>SPL<\/strong> tests with the four <strong>DD Audio 512-D4\u2019s<\/strong> it was brought to my attention by <strong>Ashley \u2018MAD BASS\u2019 Burrell<\/strong> that we have not yet tested two of them for a comparison. This got the brain ticking over and after a long conversation (Ask anyone that knows us, <strong>Ashley<\/strong> and I can talk!) with <strong>Ashley<\/strong> the decision was made to run with the same design that was netting us results with the four <strong>DD-512-D4\u2019s,&nbsp;<\/strong>but this time with&nbsp;only half the box.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><a href=\"https:\/\/hifihq.com.au\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/DD512x2.jpg\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"600\" height=\"448\" src=\"https:\/\/hifihq.com.au\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/DD512x2.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-369\" srcset=\"https:\/\/hifihq.com.au\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/DD512x2.jpg 600w, https:\/\/hifihq.com.au\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/DD512x2-300x224.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/a><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>As I do I setup the car the way I always do before testing, checking and double checking all my settings just in case I changed something during daily driving which I do when I\u2019m running different setups. Once that was done we positioned the <strong>Sub-Woofer Box<\/strong> in the boot\/Hatch of <strong>ABTEC3<\/strong> and gave it&nbsp;moderately&nbsp;powered sweep. Just like the four <strong>Sub-Woofer Box<\/strong> the sweep showed the&nbsp;optimum frequency @ <strong>58Hz<\/strong>, so now it was time to test them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><a href=\"https:\/\/hifihq.com.au\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/Result.jpg\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"600\" height=\"327\" src=\"https:\/\/hifihq.com.au\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/Result.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-370\" srcset=\"https:\/\/hifihq.com.au\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/Result.jpg 600w, https:\/\/hifihq.com.au\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/Result-300x164.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/a><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>On the first <strong>\u2018Burp\u2019<\/strong> we netted a mid <strong>150dB<\/strong> so I tried out a couple of frequencies above and below <strong>58Hz<\/strong>, funny enough the sweet spot was <strong>56Hz<\/strong> and not <strong>58Hz<\/strong> as the sweep showed. At <strong>56Hz<\/strong> the gain was almost <strong>0.5dB<\/strong> which doesn\u2019t sound like much but can make a world of a difference when you are competing, we also tried changing the box position and this even made a slight difference too!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On our final run we managed a <strong>151dB<\/strong> out of the entry level <strong>DD-512-D4\u2019s<\/strong>, so I had to know if it was a one off so tried a few more times getting <strong>151dB<\/strong>&nbsp;every time! This result has surprised me quite a bit and to be honest I was really happy with this result. At the same time it tells me there is still more to be&nbsp;squeezed out of all four <strong>DD-512-D4\u2019s, <\/strong>so now its time to brainstorm and test until we get that <strong>1 or 2 dB<\/strong> more we are looking for but only time will tell!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>After doing the SPL tests with the four DD Audio 512-D4\u2019s it was brought to my attention by Ashley \u2018MAD BASS\u2019 Burrell that we have not yet tested two of them for a comparison.
