Most Sub-Woofers<\/strong> have a\u00a0reasonable lifespan, even after a lot of life shortening abuse I\u2019ve seen DD Audio Sub-Woofers<\/strong> still pound away where other Sub-Woofers would been burnt out and lifeless. This blog is about a coil\/cone\/basket replacement on a seven year old DD-3512-D2 Sub-Woofer <\/strong>that looks like it had lifetime of said abuse!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

You are most likely cringing at the sight of the ripped rubber on this old DD-3512-D2 Sub-Woofer<\/strong>, I remember when I first saw it I kept thinking \u201cWow, that\u2019s had a hard life!\u201d. Since the Cone and Dust-Cap were never going to be used again Ashley \u2018MAD BASS\u2019 Burrell<\/strong> began cutting and slashing away with all his hearts content until the Cone was ready to be lifted out.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Now that the Cone and Dust-Cap was removed it would usually mean it was time to start cleaning up the Basket\u00a0preparing it for the Re-Cone, this wasn\u2019t the case this time round since it was an older DD-3512-D2<\/strong> it mean\u2019t that the new style of Re-Cone would not fit. So there was only one choice here, that was to remove and\u00a0replace the old Basket for a newer one.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Once the old Basket was removed Ashley<\/strong> noticed that there was a Spacer used between the old Basket and Motor. So out came the Spacer and on went the new Basket, funny enough this made the prep work quite simple in comparison since you are already working with a flat\/clean surface.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After fitting the new Basket Ashley<\/strong> moved onto placing and gluing down the Spider-Suspension and Rubber-Surround, as stated in past blogs this is a very\u00a0crucial part of the Re-Cone since if you do not have it perfectly\u00a0centre it will damage itself very quickly once the Sub-Woofer<\/strong> is running again.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And here is the finished product! A brand new DD-3512-D2 Sub-Woofer<\/strong>, well 75% of it is brand new and I\u2019m sure the owner of this Sub-Woofer<\/strong> is going to be more than happy with the outcome!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
