{"id":127,"date":"2013-06-05T16:36:16","date_gmt":"2013-06-05T04:36:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/hifihq.com.au\/blog\/?p=127"},"modified":"2019-02-12T15:21:26","modified_gmt":"2019-02-12T02:21:26","slug":"abtec-lower-hutts-showroom-gets-rocked-by-its-new-dd-audio-z18","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/hifihq.com.au\/blog\/abtec-lower-hutts-showroom-gets-rocked-by-its-new-dd-audio-z18\/","title":{"rendered":"ABTEC Lower Hutt\u2019s Showroom Gets Rocked By Its New DD Audio Z18!!"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Last week after a long&nbsp;discussion with <strong>Ashley Burrell<\/strong> a&nbsp;decision was made to change the look of the <strong>Lower Hutt Showroom<\/strong> a touch.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This&nbsp;meant not only taking the <strong>DD Audio DD-Z18-D1.5<\/strong> out of the the Pajero (<strong>ABTEC1<\/strong>), but it also meant that we had to carpet it so it didn\u2019t look out of place next to all the other carpeted boxes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><a href=\"https:\/\/hifihq.com.au\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/DD-Showroom.jpg\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"600\" height=\"400\" src=\"https:\/\/hifihq.com.au\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/DD-Showroom.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-136\" srcset=\"https:\/\/hifihq.com.au\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/DD-Showroom.jpg 600w, https:\/\/hifihq.com.au\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/DD-Showroom-300x200.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/a><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Once the <strong>Z18<\/strong> and <strong>9512<\/strong>\u2018s boxes were all carpeted, it was time to drive them over to Lower Hutt. When we arrived <strong>Ashley<\/strong> soon realised he had forgot his keys, lucky for us <strong>Darryl Burrell<\/strong> wasn\u2019t to far away.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>While waiting for the keys to arrive I couldn\u2019t help but text <strong>Johnny<\/strong> to have a laugh at <strong>Ashley\u2019s<\/strong>&nbsp;expense,&nbsp;while you might think this is mean I found it amusing at the time since <strong>Ashley<\/strong> NEVER forgets anything!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><a href=\"https:\/\/hifihq.com.au\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/DD-Z18-1.jpg\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"600\" height=\"400\" src=\"https:\/\/hifihq.com.au\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/DD-Z18-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-138\" srcset=\"https:\/\/hifihq.com.au\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/DD-Z18-1.jpg 600w, https:\/\/hifihq.com.au\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/DD-Z18-1-300x200.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/a><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Not long after <strong>Johnny<\/strong> had turned up and we all sat in his Legacy admiring the sound that was coming out of his new <strong>Johnnybox sub-woofer enclosure<\/strong>, next thing we knew <strong>Darryl<\/strong> had arrived and it was time to get to work.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The first job was removing a <strong>DD Audio DD-3510-d2<\/strong> from a old box so <strong>Johnny<\/strong> can size it up for a <strong>Johnnybox<\/strong> but I will leave that for another blog.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><a href=\"https:\/\/hifihq.com.au\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/DD-Z12-1.jpg\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"600\" height=\"400\" src=\"https:\/\/hifihq.com.au\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/DD-Z12-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-139\" srcset=\"https:\/\/hifihq.com.au\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/DD-Z12-1.jpg 600w, https:\/\/hifihq.com.au\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/DD-Z12-1-300x200.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/a><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Next up was measuring up the showroom just to make sure the <strong>Z18<\/strong> could fit, after shuffling a few things around&nbsp;it was time to&nbsp;disassemble the old <strong>Z12<\/strong>&nbsp;\u201cRobot\u201d. It didn\u2019t take long till the head-unit and speakers had been removed off the <strong>Z12<\/strong> box and attached to the <strong>Z18<\/strong>\u2018s box.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>While <strong>Ashley<\/strong> was doing the <strong>Z12\/18<\/strong> swap, <strong>Johnny<\/strong> and I decided it would be cool to invert the <strong>Z12<\/strong> in its box so everyone could see the motor. I must say the <strong>Z Series<\/strong> must be one of the coolest looking sub-woofers when inverted!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><a href=\"https:\/\/hifihq.com.au\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/DD-Z12-2.jpg\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"600\" height=\"400\" src=\"https:\/\/hifihq.com.au\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/DD-Z12-2.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-140\" srcset=\"https:\/\/hifihq.com.au\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/DD-Z12-2.jpg 600w, https:\/\/hifihq.com.au\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/DD-Z12-2-300x200.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/a><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>By now <strong>Ashley<\/strong> had the NEW <strong>Z18 <\/strong>\u201cRobot\u201d wired and ready to test so while <strong>Ashley<\/strong> and <strong>Johnny<\/strong> modified the <strong>Z12<\/strong>\u2018s box a touch I spent a good hour playing&nbsp;various types of music on the <strong>Z<\/strong> ranging from Dubstep to underground hip-hop and even some Pink Floyd to mix it up a bit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There is something amazing about the <strong>Z18<\/strong> that can not be put into words, if you ever get the chance to listen to some of your favourite songs on one you will know what I mean here. And as happy as I was to be able to turn up the <strong>Z18<\/strong> and just stand there in complete awe, I was just as sad when it finally hit me like a ton of bricks to the head that I would no longer have the <strong>Z18<\/strong> in the back of my daily driver.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><a href=\"https:\/\/hifihq.com.au\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/DD-Z18-21.jpg\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"600\" height=\"400\" src=\"https:\/\/hifihq.com.au\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/DD-Z18-21.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-141\" srcset=\"https:\/\/hifihq.com.au\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/DD-Z18-21.jpg 600w, https:\/\/hifihq.com.au\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/DD-Z18-21-300x200.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/a><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>With the Showroom all finished and cleaned up it was time again to lock-up but before we left I had to play one more song on the <strong>Z18<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you are ever in the <strong>Lower Hutt<\/strong> area feel free to pop into the Showroom, check out the <strong>Z18<\/strong> and <strong>Z12<\/strong> for yourself and ask one of the team to give you a demo.
