Dual 12″ Sub-Box to House Two DD-512-D4 Sub-Woofers
I had a request for a Sub-Woofer box to be made for a Nissan Stagea, this seemed like a very easy request at the time until I had the measurements text messaged to me. Being one who likes a challenge I got right onto it, first ringing our box builder and seeing if he could work with the dimensions provided already knowing he would have a drawing right quick!
Since the box profile could only be so tall the Sub-Woofer choice was quite slim, so after a few conversations the choice was a DD-512-D4. The DD-512-D4 is DD Audio entry level 12″ Sub-Woofer and is a very underrated sub at that as I have run 2 DD-512-D4’s off a M4 in ABTEC1 for over a month without any issues!
Once we had a dimensional drawing to confirm our thoughts on this box it was time for our box builder to start his thing and cut, drill and screw to his hearts content! It still cease’s to amaze me how quickly we are making these boxes now too, it was about four hours from the text saying he had started the box to the post up on Facebook saying it was finished!
Now that the box was finished it was time for Ashley ‘MAD BASS’ Burrell to do his thing and get his carpet on! Since the Nissan Stagea’s interior is grey it made perfect sense to go with a grey carpet to give the box a almost factory look.
Once the carpeting was all done Ashley ‘MAD BASS’ Burrell installed ABTEC’s signature plug system that we run on all our set-up’s including the 152.8dB Toyota Vitz (ABTEC3). This system is run on all our set-up’s to make removing a Sub-Woofer box quick and easy, we also use the same system for extra battery set-up’s since having four/five batteries in a car on a daily basis is not needed.
The last thing now was to add the 6″ Aero-Port, DD-512-D4’s and grills and because the Nissan Stagea has had a full R34 GTR conversion and full DD Audio install the decision was made to glue the port into the box to give it a clean look.
Since this was our first shallow box made I have asked the new owner if I can run in their Sub-Woofer’s so I can get a feel of how it will sound, that way when they get the Sub-Woofer box they can give it full throttle if wanted too!
On a final note I will be doing a full Blog/Review on the Nissan Stagea once it has had the new head-mods/work done on the RB26Dett and I can’t wait to hear how all its new DD Audio gear sounds in it
